Is the Paphos and Kourion Day Trip from Protaras Worth It?
Updated October 25, 2026 · 4 min read
The Paphos and Kourion day trip is worth it if you want to see western Cyprus without driving across the island. It lasts ten hours and starts at €55. The price buys transport and structure; the compromise is a long day with limited time at each stop.
What the day actually connects
The route combines Kourion, Petra tou Romiou and Paphos. Kourion was an important ancient city-kingdom; its restored Greco-Roman theatre and the mosaics of the House of Eustolios are the clearest highlights. Paphos adds a harbour city whose archaeological area is UNESCO-listed. The booking description also mentions traditional sweets and free time.
This is therefore not a detailed excavation tour of one site. It is an island-crossing overview. Ten hours must cover pickups, the road west, several stops and the return to Protaras. If mosaics are your main interest, check whether the current itinerary leaves enough independent time in Paphos.
What to confirm before booking
Ask whether archaeological entrance fees are included, which Paphos site is visited and where the free time falls. Opening hours and fees can change; the official Kourion page explicitly asks visitors to verify them. Wear shoes for stone and uneven ground, and carry water in warm weather.
The excursion suits travellers who prefer one organised day to a self-drive route. It is a poor choice for small children who dislike long coach journeys, for anyone wanting a slow lunch, or for travellers who already plan to stay in Paphos.
Our recommendation
Book the ten-hour Paphos and Kourion tour for breadth, not depth. Keep another day in Protaras light: this is one of the longest outings in the local selection.
