Troodos Mountains from Protaras: Jeep Safari, Villages or Wineries?
Updated October 25, 2026 · 4 min read
Choose the Troodos food-and-wine tour with lunch if villages, local products and a family winery are the reason for leaving the coast. It lasts 8.5 hours and starts at €132. Choose the full-day jeep safari for a broader scenic circuit at €95 and eight hours.
Two long days with different priorities
The food-and-wine day names local producers, a winery and lunch. The jeep safari sells the landscapes and 4×4 journey. Neither is simply transport to one village. Both consume most of a day once pickup and return are included, so do not plan an evening activity that depends on a precise arrival time.
Visit Cyprus describes seven signed wine routes across the island, including the southern Troodos slopes and mountain areas towards Larnaca and Nicosia. That variety is why “Troodos wine tour” is not one fixed route. Check the current stops on the booking page rather than assuming a particular village or winery.
Who should choose which?
Choose food and wine if tasting and meeting producers are the point, and if the higher price is acceptable. Choose the jeep if viewpoints and rougher roads appeal more. Ask about vehicle access, walking, dietary needs and pickup before booking. Anyone prone to discomfort on winding roads should consider the long road day honestly.
Driving yourself
A car offers freedom, but Cyprus drives on the left and wine tasting does not mix with driving. If you self-drive, designate a driver and verify opening times directly. Compare options through Discover Cars for Protaras only after deciding that independent driving actually suits the day.
Our recommendation
For most food-focused visitors, book the guided food-and-wine day. Pick the jeep when scenery matters more than tastings.
